Everybody in the country, from schools to universities was feeling the heat as Malaysia go head to head with Thailand on 20th December 2014 for the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup.
It was a very challenging mission for the Malaysian team in the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final as they suffered a 2-0 lost during the first round in Rajamangala Stadium. The home team need atleast 3-0 win to secure the trophy.
The home team was quick to gain a lead through Safik Rahim’s penalty shot at the 6th minutes of the game. Indra Putra’s header on the 45th minutes doubled the lead for the Malaysian team and leveled the aggregate.
The second half of the game bring more actions, on 57 minutes, Safik Rahim’s fast and beautiful free kick made Malaysia led for the first time, turning the aggregate 3-2 in the favor of the Malaysian.
Dollah Salleh’s team however were denied to lift the AFF Suzuki cup after Chappuis scored a late goal on the 82 minutes for Thailand and made them ahead from Malaysia on away goals. Chanathip added another misery to the Malaysian team as he smashed home into the top corner from the edge of the box, to send the Suzuki Cup safely to Thailand.
The Kiatisuk Senamuang’s skuad won the AFF Suzuki Cup on 4-3 aggregate.
