Finding job

Everyone noticed that the job market currently we having today have become more competitive than ever before. The time when every university’s graduate are guaranteed to get a job are already passed. That was our parent era, and we are not living in it today. The number of jobs that are available are very important, not only for graduate, but also for social order in a country.

The rise of unemployment saw various of other social problems. The current riots in Ferguson, Missouri also were influence by the level of unemployment. The Saudi Gazette quoted:

Analysts point out that the killing of Michael Brown in not the only reason for the present unrest. Poverty and unemployment are rising in the African-American community and some people who are involved in the rioting are taking advantage of the present situation for their own benefit.

So what are the problems that graduates are having that made the employer reluctant to take them for a post?

During a talk organized by Gas Engineering Student Society, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, there are 3 major stumble block stressed by the speaker for graduate to be employed when they get an interview. Those 3 are:

1. They are not confident enough

Some graduate doesn’t show that they are confident to do the job. The word ‘confident‘ maybe written on the CV but the way they answer the questions does not reflect that. Some interviewer does not ask you to get an answer, because they already have them, but they want to see your confidence level.

2. Lack of Communications Skills

You might have an impressive CV, great achievement but if you failed to convey the interviewer you might just missing the chance. It is like you are a teacher and you have a knowledge about a theory, but you don’t know how to tell it so the student can understand.

3. Unrealistic salary

This part maybe a little bit tricky, you need to do some research about the job and how much the company willing to pay for it for a fresh graduate. Unrealistic salary when it come to the paying negotiation will turn the employer off.

But, sure there are a lot of other factors that affect employability. For those who are currently doing their job hunting, do check these three points.

Godspeed!
