The fuss about free speech is currently spreading virally in the social media and also in the mainstream media. With the world’s political elite holding a theatrical rally in support for unity and press freedom in Paris, this show a hypocrisy of the west rather than seriousness to advocate freedom and free speech.
First of all, how on earth Benjamin Netanyahu, the one that kills hundreds of children in Gaza last summer under broad daylight get the honor to be on the first line on the rally? Disgusting. Report says that French president Hollande himself request to Netanyahu not to come to Paris, but why should he care? He is above the law, he did not eve have any respect to the UN, when he dismissed many of the UN resolution. So why he should obey the French president right?
Secondly, the idea of western free speech is a delusional idea at the first place. For instance you cannot deny holocaust in most of EU countries, you’ll be earning a prison sentence if you say it in public. This is the law in Germany. Free speech? You may want to think about it again.
Thirdly, why does there is no world leaders holding hand in a rally when thousand of peoples killed in Gaza? Where are them when US bombed Iraq? Where Angela Merkel when the Syrian population brutally murdered? No where to be seen.
So when they say free speech you might want to rethink about it and define it properly. Is it a universal free speech or rather a selective speech, advocated for political gain. Is it a real free speech or their definition of free speech.
